A high-ranking Hamas delegation will visit Cairo in the coming days at the invitation of Egypt, the movement’s spokesperson Hazem Qassem told Anadolu Agency.
The head of Hamas’ Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, will lead the delegation.
Qassem did not specify the exact date of the planned visit but said it will take place in the coming days.
The visit comes as part of Egypt’s efforts to stop the Israeli attacks on the Palestinians following the occupation’s 11-day bombardment of Gaza earlier this month.
“The visit also aims to follow up on Egypt’s role in rebuilding the Gaza Strip,” Anadolu quoted Qassem as saying.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza said on Tuesday that the death toll from the Israeli military raids on the besieged enclave has reached 254 persons, including 66 children, 39 women and 17 elders, in addition to 1,948 wounded Palestinians.
