Nineteen people have died of coronavirus in Palestine in the last 24 hours, 1595 new cases were recorded in only the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and 1429 patients have recovered, today said Minister of Health Mai Alkaila.
She said in her daily coronavirus report in Palestine that 13 of the deaths were in the West Bank and six in the Gaza Strip, while there were no deaths reported in East Jerusalem.
While no data on new cases was provided from the Gaza Strip, which did not carry out any tests yesterday after running out of testing kits, the West Bank, which is going to start on Thursday a one-week lockdown in four cities, recorded 1351 new cases. East Jerusalem had 244 new cases over 48 hours.
The coming lockdown in the West Bank will affect the cities of Nablus, which recorded 263 new cases in the last 24 hours, Hebron, which had 310 new cases, Bethlehem, 141 cases, and Tulkarm, 90 cases. Meanwhile, Ramallah district recorded 202 cases and Jenin 127 cases, but both were excluded from the lockdown except on weekends and weeknights.
The West Bank had 651 recoveries, Gaza 550, and East Jerusalem 228.
Alkaila said 85 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, among them 25 are on respirators.
A total of 76.6 percent of the total corona cases in Palestine recorded since the outbreak of the disease in March have recovered, 22.6 percent are still active, and 0.8 percent have died.
