UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres has called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Israel not to thwart efforts being made to meet the vital needs of the Gaza population.
This came in a news conference held on Friday by a spokesperson for Guterres at the UN headquarters in New York.
“Guterres calls on all parties to continue to deal with Egypt and the UN to avoid further escalation that will endanger the lives of Israelis and Palestinians,” the spokesperson added.
At dawn Friday, Israeli warplanes bombed about 100 civilian and resistance sites in Gaza in response to what Israel claimed was the firing of two missiles at Tel Aviv. The aerial attacks on Gaza led to the injury of four civilians.
Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other factions denied responsibility for any missile attack on Tel Aviv.
