Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday signed an order declaring the Palestinian al-Aqsa TV channel a “terrorist organization”.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said that Netanyahu’s decision came as a response to the recommendations of the Shin Bet (the Israel Security Agency) and the National Counterterrorism Bureau of the Defense Ministry to declare the TV channel as a terrorist entity.
The Shin Bet claimed that Hamas used the channel to recruit new activists and secretly communicate with them.
Based on Netanyahu’s order, anyone who works for al-Aqsa TV will be considered a member of an outlawed terrorist organization.
The Israeli occupation army had bombed the headquarters of the Palestinian TV channel during the various military aggression on the Gaza Strip, the latest of which was several months ago when al-Aqsa building was destroyed by multiple missiles.
