Israel to build hundreds of housing units in Bethlehem

Israel’s higher settlement planning council and the municipality of Beitar Illit settlement on Saturday approved a plan to construct hundreds of housing units in Beitar Illit, west of Bethlehem.

Local official Hasan Bureija said that the Israeli occupation authority sanctioned the construction of 770 housing units in Beitar Illit a few days after approving 70 units in the illegal settlement of Maksad, southeast of Bethlehem.

In recent days, the IOA approved plans to build thousands of housing units in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
